We left Batchawana mid-morning and started the drive around Lake Superior. Gitchi Gummi is absolutely incredible, kind of like Texas: you have no concept of its size until you've driven its length, something on the order of 400 miles from one end the other. At a spot in the road called Terrace Bay, we spent the night at a provincial park called Rainbow Falls, with a site directly on the lakefront. We met some local folks who spend weekends there, and were surprised by their intense interest in the political climate in the states. But mostly, it's the view. We would have stayed longer, but Banff beckons, and we still have a long way to go. Tomorrow is another day driving the north shore of the lake.
